Away from the crowds
La Regadera is in the Santa Marina quarter, well clear of the tourist density around the Judería. The people who eat here are Córdobans who know the city's better tables. The contemporary interior — pale wood, clean lines, good light — contrasts with the traditional architecture of the neighbourhood outside.
How the menu works
The chef cooks with local, seasonal produce. The menu shifts with market deliveries. There is no point asking for something specific — what was on last month may not be there now. That demands flexibility from both kitchen and guest, but the freshness is genuine.
Key dishes
The tataki de atún arrives precisely seared: caramelised on the outside, cool and raw in the centre, dressed in a fine citrus-soy vinaigrette with sesame. It is the dish that signals how the kitchen thinks. The risotto de setas has that texture — creamy without being slack, al dente without being hard — that most restaurants cannot pull off. The mushrooms come from the market that morning; the stock is made in-house. The cochinillo (roast suckling pig) comes from the oven with proper crackling: thin, blistered, giving way to tender, yielding meat beneath. The house cheesecake ends the meal gently.
The wine list
The selection leans toward Andalusian producers, with Montilla-Moriles well represented alongside a few Riojas and an occasional Galician white. The staff know the list and recommend confidently.
Practical details
Budget €30–45 for a full meal. Book at weekends or arrive around 2pm for lunch, 9pm for dinner. A good choice after visiting the Palacio de Viana nearby, or as part of an evening in San Lorenzo. Service is attentive without being intrusive.
What to know before going
La Regadera does not take walk-ins on Friday or Saturday evenings — book at least two days in advance. The tasting menu (when offered, usually at weekends) runs to five or six courses and gives the kitchen a better canvas than individual orders from the à la carte. Starters typically run €10–14, mains €18–24; the tasting menu with wine pairing sits around €55. The restaurant is a ten-minute walk from the Palacio de Viana, making it a natural dinner stop on that circuit.
